Shakespeare continues to be cool in new and exciting ways...
I love Shakespeare...I know, thats a shock. But what I love more than Shakespeare, is how his works as continually influencing and adapting new works around the world. His works and his name are so omnipresent that at any given time it is being studied, performed, or inspiring things all around the world and with people of all ages. Comic book adaptions of his plays have created a new way to introduce his works to kids and adults alike. The graphic novel series “Kill Shakespeare”, that was announced at San Diego Comic Con in 2010, takes his most famous characters and villains in a new context. Now there is another way that the graphic novel adaptions have adapted into a new way to engage people in the Bard's many and varied worlds. Based on the graphic novels, the board game of Kill Shakespeare is an adventure for two to four players who need to protect the realm from King Richard, Lady MacBeth and their dark army! This game brings the greatest characters of Shakespearean literature to life and asks them to complete quests assigned by the bard himself in an attempt to prove themselves worthy of taking over as protector of the realm. The creators of this game have more information on the game on their Kickstarter page https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/idwgames/kill-shakespeareI think my issue with this might be that I would always be cheering on the villains (Iago, you are the best!) but as someone who has super competitive and in no way overdramatic friends, I think this game could be a lot of fun. What do you think?
